Something supernatural happens when you go into the water of baptism.

The scriptures say that your whole self is buried in Christ, into his death, and when you rise out of the water, you rise into His life. 

Special grace is imparted to you to live in victory, and to overcome sin and bad habits. 

When you're baptized in the water your old nature is buried with Christ. The water is really like a grave where all your sins are left.  Then when you're lifted out of the water, you have now risen to a brand new life. 

Amazing things happen in water baptism. The hold that sin had over you is broken, and you receive the grace to live a new life. It's a miracle, a powerful thing. It's not just a religious ceremony that every Christian must go through. It's a powerful time to receive the grace of our Lord Jesus.
